There will be significant momentum for the digital transformation of businesses in the years to come. Interestingly, the global COVID-19 pandemic has only accelerated the same as we witnessed in 2020 and this trend will continue. Deep tech components are a key catalyst in enabling the digital transformation journey for companies. Deep tech focus areas, like AI/ML, AR/VR, Blockchain, IoT and others, are finding traction across a host of vertical industries and the outcomes are impressive. In India alone, NASSCOM estimates 18% of startups are focused in this space. In fact the NASSCOM Deep Tech Club has mentored over 78 startups in the deep tech space over the last 3 years. Globally, according to BCG, investments in this space grew at 22% annually and translated to almost $60 billion being invested between 2013 and 2018.
